Just to post a Bowtie thread
What's up you Chevy Cobra freaks? I'm just posting cause I haven't seen a new thread in a couple of weeks! What's up!!! Anyway, I just sent my heads, from my LT1 out to get worked on. I'm getting a three angle valve job done and I'm going to port them.

I asked a ? if u could change an LT1 engine to carbs and a dizzy as the 1 i was buying had injection only got 1 reply so come on u chevy guys reply dont let the ford lot get us down

Depending on what year LT1 you have can make a difference. I may be a bit off on the years but I believe its all possible. LT1 blocks up to 86 had straight in center bolts. 87 to 95 had the two center bolts angled in. After 95 GM went to the Vortec engine. All of the manifolds are available through major companies. I looked into the Edelbrock catalog and found manifolds for all years. I wish I could claim to know this myself. I read your note and drove down to Nutter Racing. They build engines and heads for Nascar. They helped me through this question. I have a 485 HP 454 BBC in my LA Exotic Cobra. It is built up to where its more power then I need and still runs on pump gas. I have had many problems with mainly Cooling, Cam Problems, fuel fouling plugs etc. I have worked out 95% of the problems by myself. The rest of the time I ask for advice. thanks fpr the reply Tom , it was a 94 LT1 but i dont think I'll bother as the air flow meter was missing so who knows what else was .Someone on the uk site is advertiseing a 350 2 stud block engine i might go for that instaed and later get a brand new one from the states .

I recently had a catastopic failure in my 400. Just one of things, sometimes you pick the wrong people to do engine work, and not being a great "Wrench" I went to the local Chev store and picked up a ZZ4. Bolted it in, hooked it up, changed the manifold to the Edelbrock "Air", used the Mallory ignition from the old engine and drove away. It sure gives me all I need. Has considerably more low end torque, not a high reving engine (red line is 5800), but I rarely get above 5000 anyway. If you are Mechanicaly Challenged, this is a hell of a lot of engine for $3500.

well bish it might be but over here it would cost about £6000 with the intakes and carb I think i've found a rebuilt 1 here for £2 k

I'm with you. I've got the original release of the HO 350 crate motor ("ZZZ") in my car and I have never regreted my decision. It has performed flawlessly, except for an annoying oil leak that took some creativity to stop.:CRY: Steve, Wow, 5809 pounds !!! That's a lot of cabbage for a Chevy! it may be worth if you call germany if you need an engine. we do not have tons of engines lying around, but some at least. of course, once we have to order from the US it's the same price as in GB. (chevy and ford) and volkswagen :3DSMILE: dominik, germany |
