trying to identify my car

hopefully you bowtie guys can help me out here. I recenty acquired a beautiful Cobra supposedly built on a '74vette chassis. Transverse monoleaf in the rear, coil-overs up front with an interesting Heim-joint upper shocktower/upper a-arm brace.
The fuel cap is in the CENTER just forward of the trunk lid. Can anyone help identify the mfg of the Kit? Photo's soon, I broke my camera....and no, I haven't located the original owner- yet. Sorry for the scetchy details...

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

The only car I know of that uses a 68-82 Corvette frame is the Cobrette.

They are built here in Phoenix. Do a search on the net for Cobrette as they do have a web site I just don't remember it.

Never mind here it is http://www.vipercarparts.com/group/cobrette.html

It sounds like an Elegant Motors Inc. Cobra replica.

Thanks, guys. I don't think it's a corbrette because the rear fenders aren't "flared" like the photos on their website, and the car just doesn't look the same.... minor details like the gas cap, windshield rake and such. And, I forgot to mention that mine is Ford powered-(on a vette chassis?) a 460 bored .0040 over. I'm going to a car lot and look at a '74vette frame and susp to see if things are similar.

Thanks,
jrichard

I'm with Cobra Dan On this one. My very first cobra way back when was a Elegant with a gas tank cap in the middle to. I liked it so much that the current car that I am building has it to. Most of Elegants cars used Corvette frames back then. Early Everett Morrison cobras also used Corvette stuff then too.

Thank you. I'm having trouble finding Web info on "Elegant motorcars, Inc" . any insight into contacting them via Internet? And I agree, the center gas cap solves the pump problem, huh?
I'm going to buy a new digital camera today and post a few pics for help. thanks for replying,
jrichard

Elegant Motors became Indy Exotics and was run by the guy who ran Elegant Motors. As of last year Indy Exotics had a web site but it is gone I beleave they are out of business. The reason the gas cap is where it's at is because the stock Corvette tank is mounted up on top of the frame and behind the seats.
