Hi Jim,

I would look at using an external pump and a swirl pot rather than trying to baffle the tank. Just the ticket for high G cornering or acceleration. Use the in tank pump to feed the swirl pot and it will keep a head of fuel up to the external pump no matter what.

Cheers

Jim,

What kind of tank do you have?

the tank is flat about 8 inches deep, the gas outlet is bottom right hand corner going to a 700gph electric pump preceded only by a 100 micron filter which is what is called for.We have a regulator up by the fuel rail on the motor. We have a gauge tha is set at 60psi and a return going back to the tank (top middle) of the tank. Today I found out about some foam type stuff that can be put in the tank that may solve the out of gas condition. Now I just need to find the right stuff to put in. Thanks for the response, just nice to know their are people with the same passions.

Fuel tank

I have had this problem, and its simply the wide area of this type of tank design, the pickup shouldn't be in one corner, unless you are going around in circle. Foam doesn't solve fuel surge but it helps, I have had 15g fuel cells and when they run down around one third full they can have fuel pickup problems.
The best way is to either have fore and aft baffles with a swinging gate setup with the pickup in the middle, all this needs to be a snug fit, or an easy way seeing your tank is made, is to make a pot to fit the tank, simply like a big round tin with three cylinders first one slotted at front bottom, then second slotted at back, and central pickup cylinder slotted front , so fuel in the center cant come out on acceleration and cornering, hits the back of #2 under braking and so on, you probably need to draw it - it works!!!!!

I can email you a drawing if you like!
