Chevy engine source please

Friend of mine here in the UK wants to acquire two Chevy 400 small block engines.

He will completely rebuild them, so cut-outs are fine.

What he needs is a source for these - a source that could be relied upon to provide the correct engines, in a rebuildable condition. He can organise freight back to the UK so long as the engines are on pallets.

Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance.

You know someone mentioned "availability" of the 400 cid engines on the Gashole site. I'd throw the 350 cid in the same pot here.

Compared to say, 5 years ago or so, these engines are getting harder to find in the "raw" state. They are very popular and plentiful as "re-builts" or "crate" motors. But used ones are getting really tough to come by. Especially if you want more than one.

If I wanted to buy ONE right now, a used one, it would be difficult to find!

The fastest place to get thm would be Memory Lane. A junkyard North of L.A. in Sun Valley. The phone number is 818-504-3341. They specialize in old muscle cars. Next door is Pick-a-Part where you go pull your own parts out. I cannot believe how many Jaguar XJ6's are there with rear ends complete. They have tons of small blocks, too. The yard is probably 1/4 mile wide and 1/4 mile deep with cars as far as the eye can see.

If you cannot find a source that can supply all you want, I'll get them for you. Seems to me the shipping will be the expensive part.
