Headers and side pipes for sale

I have a set of 351w headers and side pipes made by Don Scott for a classic roadster for sale. They are brand new with just a couple of hours idle time on them (they are not even painted). I am asking $500. Let me know if there is any interest.

That sounds like a great deal for someone who has the original CR sidepipes,
which rob you of about 50 hp. Not much louder but free up a lot of power.
I got some from Don and they bolted right on and was very pleasantly
surprised at the difference.

Thanks Brian.

Today was a busy day for me. I had an emergency call and had to drive to Long Beach and back 5 1/2 hours each way. Up at 3 am this morning and just got home at around 8 pm.

Talk to you later.

Terry,
I am looking for a box big enough to put the side pipes in. I may have to ship headers separately. Thanks for your patience,

Brian

Brian,
Received the headers and side pipes today. Thanks.

To all though, what is supposed to so much better about these compared to the original ones? Is it just a better flowing exhaust through the side-pipes?

MaSnaka 04-23-2010 06:41 PM

Terry,
Can you shine a flashlight and hold a mirror and look into the tail end of your pipes? I found on my original mufflers a restrictor plate with a 1 1/2" X 24" tube welded to it and the same thing at the collector end. The tubes were offset from each other and had lots of small holes drilled into them. My new mufflers from Classic Chambered are 2 1/2" clear passage with lots of small louvers in a spiral pattern along the outside edges. Big difference in exhaust flow. Hopefully your new pipes have the larger pass through. If they do it will drastically change your engine tune A/F mixture and bump your HP and TQ up about 50 points when you get it dialed in.

John,

Thanks for the info. I will check both sets and see how they are constructed. I really do not think the headers are much different and changing them will not provide any improvment over what I have now. The side-pipes should be a different story. I am thinking about making some heat shields and welding on some threaded attchment points before having them jet hot coated.

MaSnaka 04-23-2010 08:37 PM

Terry,
If your going to be welding on them you might want to add a bung to attach an A/F sensor for your dyno tune. Mine was installed at about 4:00 on the drivers side between the collector and the muffler. It can also be used to measure backflow pressure. (BTW- that is looking forward so you don't see it unless your under the car.)

Your welcome Terry. I hope they work out well for you.
