AOD behind FE in classic roadster
has anyone
|
My concern would be the TALL overdrive ratio they run. It's a .6 or a .7, something like that. You might want to spend some time reviewing some transmission threads about the guys running a classic T5 trans with the most common .6 ratio. If your rear gear is to high your cruise rpm will drop so low your camshaft profile may not be compatible for the best rpm range of the motor. Unless you want to cruise at 80 or 85 mph, not a good idea.
So calculate your cruise rpm with your rear gear ratio and tire size with a .6 or .7 OD and then compare that rpm to your cam profile to determine if you will end up with a reasonable cruise rpm. I would guess you would want a 3:55 rear gear ratio or even lower, like a 3.7 maybe. To make it "comfortable" you can do one of two things: Change the rear gear or change the cam profile to work at a lower rpm. |
cobraman28,
Putting in an AOD in CR's oversized frame or even the sock frame is NOT a problem. but as Ernie stated get your ratios together to make a great combination. DV |
