Don't be shy!

Does anyone remember for what year and/or in which issue the Penthouse Pet of the Year won a Classic Roadster 427 Cobra as one of the prizes for her accomplishment?

The reason for the question is the fact that one of my running buddies bought the the above CR from a guy in Phoenix, AZ. who had, in turn, bought the car from the Pet in Los Angeles, CA., around 1996-1997. I have to admit, I remember the pictorial (strictly for the beauty of the car).

I' m interested in obtaining a copy of the issue (in good condition :3DSMILE::3DSMILE:) for his 60th birthday.

Jeff.

Can't help you but that is a cool story! Hope someone can - would like to see the pictures - of the Cobra of course! On second thought the playmate would be nice too. Gads - i am getting old!

Well, I can tell you "Steve Syrdall" was the CEO of CR's at the time. He was in the book for Fargo. He would know, if you call him tell him DV said HEY! Dave Sweere was in charge of production/parts, he would definitely know too, but his where abouts these days are world wide! Dave is now production supervisor for one of the large wind/turbine company's in the country.

That's the best I can do. Mrs. DV only allows magazines with Car pin-ups! ;)

When the body for my 1st CR was delivered from Fargo, Several friends were on hand including the guy with the Penthouse CR. We told the guy who delivered the body from Fargo the story to which he replied: "We always wondered what ever happened to that car."

He has since rebuilt the 351 engine as a 427 stroker, put in 3.55 gears, updated the American style mags to the Team III wheels, modified the dash with a wood veneer overlay and repainted the car which was originally a dark green to a dark metallic green.

It was nice to have his car available when the construction manual/pictures weren't clear or to confirm what I was doing was right during my initial build.

Like a good friend, he let's me cruise with it while mine is under re-construction.

I'm closing in on the issue. It appears to be Pet of the Year for 1991 in the January 1992 issue, based on a copy of the Bill of Sale from Classic Roadsters to Penthouse International dated Nov. 1991.

Of course,,, I would read it only for the articles as well. :)

Gotta be the 1991 edition, which she may have actually received in 1992.

The 1992 year award is accounted for, it was a Lexus.

JEwalt 11-03-2010 11:02 AM

Excaliber -

Are you referring to Playboy magazine or Penthouse magazine?
I see from one of the post above that a Lexus was presented in 1992 to the Playboy Playmate of the Year.

Or, are you referring to the year for which she posed? (1991)

Jeff.

Excaliber 11-03-2010 11:23 AM

Ah, good catch, as per Hotfingers link to Jaopnik, it is indeed Playboy to which I refer, not Penthouse.

...carry on. :)
