What shocks for my car
 
Hi - first thread. I just bought a Classic roadster from a friend. It has a Mustang rear end. It is a 4 lug with drum brakes. It has springs and shocks. The shocks are Blue. The bushings are shot so I want to get new shocks. Not sure what to get. One shock has a 32207 on it. Im assuming they are Monroes.

When Buying shocks what "car do I use. The shocks have eyelets on the top and bottom. thanks for the help.

The original shocks to be used are MONROE # 5876 - the new monroe part number is 32207.

I was always told VW bug shocks. I took off my aftermarket performance shocks and installed VW beetle shocks and now the car rides nice like a real car. I also had the Monroes mentioned here a long time ago and the valving is for a bigger heavier car. Too firm for a 2,400 lb Cobra unless you want to race.

I wound up going with the KYB eguivalent. The gas adjusts are 10-15 percent stiffer so I didn't go with those. We have the battery and nitrous tank in the trunk so that's a few more pounds on the back shocks.

You know what year vw bug to use or just one of the old ones?

I have Koni's 88-1953 rear and 88-2287SP in the front does anyone know the equivalent # in Bilsteins? my car is 2800lbs with a full tank (Mid car mounted).
