Side mirrors mounted to windshield
I would like to see any pics you might have of exterior mirrors mounted to the side of the windshield. I am contemplating not mounting the traditional mirrors on the fenders. I have seen in passing what looks like motor cycle mirrors in use. Thanks

They really have to be up that high if you want to see anything at the rear other than the rear guards.

In my opinion, the center mirror is to see what is behind you, the side mirrors are to see what is to the side of you - in your blind spot. Having your mirrors focused in one area makes no real sense to me.

X2 for Pat's post. It's amazing how many people haven't figured that out yet. I can see 360 around the car without turning my head. For viewing what's next to me when I have about 2 ft. left of the car next to me in the rear view I have about 2 ft. of it in the side mirror. When I have about 2 ft. of them left in the side mirror I can pick them up in my peripheral vision. Been setting mirrors up like that since not long after I started driving.

I go round-and-round with my wife on the position she leaves the side mirror in. She likes to see the side of the car while I maintain if you can see the side of your own car you can't see the cars in the lane next to you. |
i go through the same thing with my wife.
the center mirror is always moved too. when i look in it all i see is myself.
i guess how we look is more important than not crashing into something

Well there's a substantial height diff between my wife and I so I expect the rear view will be different and I expect to have to adjust the side mirrors too, but she has told me flat out she wants to see the side of her own car, "So she knows where she is."

I put motorcycle mirrors on my windshield. They look good and I can now see behind me on the drivers side. The passenger side... not so well.

Thanks for all of the replies. I purchased a set of short stem Harley 4 inch round mirrors. I think with a set custom milled attachment blocks they will blend nicely with the lines of the windshield and the body. thanks again

The prototype for the wing mount mirrors were done in this manner. It worked but couldn't get past the "Is that a Harley Cobra?" questions. Plus the attachment blocks are a bit clunky.
