Procedure for using a 80-94 clutch cable (DV method?)
Ok, I got a 78 Mustang clutch cable and I am really disappointed on how it slides in the cable housing (allot a resistance compared to the 80-94 clutch cable I also have).
DV, you mentioned how to use the newer style cable but I don't recall what you said. Looking that the extra length of the cable, the tube between the firewall and cable would need to be like 8 inches long. Plus what to I do to attach the flat piece at the end of the clutch cable to the clutch lever? I have heard of someone using a firewall adjustor/clutch quadrant, does anyone have any pics of how they mounted the clutch quadrant? Thanks |

my fault. You misunderstood me. I have never used the newer cable. I used thin wall pipe of some sort about 6 1/4"s long. The diameter should be such that the plastic grommet on the cable fits into it tight. Then a just take a flat piece of steel, drill a hole big enough for the cable to pass through with the "eye" and weld it to the bottom of your tube. Then a 3/8's " hole on each end of the plate and bolt it up to your Cobra, making sure....... it pulls the line/cable straight when the pedal is pushed in- perfectly straight. Never got the Ford auto adjustment piece to work on a CR"s. FFR guys use it all the time. |
