supposed CR for sale wa

Cobra replica classic roadster
Unassembled, soft top, Side pipes look right, doors look wrong from shown angles I would assume wrong body, or just bad photo. $11k

Maybe it's classic to him. ;). Certainly doesn't have the extended doors which are the tell tale sign of a CR

The only similarity with my genuine Classic Roadster that I can see in the pics are the sidepipe rear brackets. You would have to measure sidepipe length to determine if they are fitted to the CR. I have round tail lights too but I'm sure you could have cut square ones instead. The views don't show the door cut outs where the CR doors extend forward. There is enough evidence to raise the question and doubts that it is a Classic Roadster replica. But that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it if the price reflects true value.

Definitely not a Classic Roadsters body...
But those definitely ARE Classic Roadster sidepipes.

It does look (to me) like an extended wheelbase body (maybe Excaliber?)

I agree and 2nd with moore_rb.
Definitely not a classic roadsters body. The hood scoop is not a CR for one thing. Those without a doubt are CR sidepipes.

I agree, kind of fun deciphering photos, kind of a habit. A good deal for someone. 'd be concerned about the body to frame alignments

74proii 01-13-2017 01:02 AM

Seems he has all the paperwork, nice guy. body looks a lot like http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/clas...-8-8-rear.html
weird, I wonder if very early cars did not have the unique doors?

nodari 01-14-2017 10:47 PM

It's a Classic Roadster for sure, look at the front of doors next to hood, only a few 94" wheelbase makers have those shaped doors. But the pipes would make me think Classic all day long

Howdy all. I'm a newbie and the purchaser of the above discussed kit. It is indeed a Classic Roadster. It is an early production car, not the extended model. He had a mountain of paper work. He was the second owner and had the original sales receipt from the original owner. Just got it in the shop a couple weeks ago and anxious to get started. It does need a bit of clean up do to sitting around for decades, but looking forward to building my dream car. I'm sure I'll be on here in the future for advise and looking for any missing pieces.

Congrats, Welcome

moore_rb 01-26-2017 09:22 AM

Awesome- welcome! - I had never heard that CR had ever made anything but the extended wheelbase cars with the unusual doors...

Be sure to post some more pictures of the car when you have some time....

Good luck with the build! Looking forward to seeing pictures as the build moves forward. Welcome to the crowd.

MaSnaka 01-27-2017 10:48 AM

Yes yes welcome. Please share your build with us. And good luck!! There is fun in the build (rebuild in my case) and fun in the cruising. Many friends and events to get to know.

Yes, I agree with all of our CR2 Forum members that posted....welcome.

Please keep us updated on your build. I'm also completely rebuilding a CR1 I built for my brother over 26 years ago. I have the car stripped down to the frame and will resume the rebuild project in the spring.

If you need any advice, guidance, provide ideas or anything....reach out to us, we'll all be fairly responsive to communicate what we did and what worked (or didn't) for us.

Welcome.
