Bulldog here again with another question my head lights seem to be dim while driving at nigh they are sylvania halogen but just don't seem to be as bright as they should be have no electrical problems with car runs fine starts grgreat.shas anyone had similar problem?

@Bulldog, check your headlight ground connection, I know mine still had paint between it and the frame. Ground the paint off, lights are now bright. I know of a few other CR owner that have had the same problem. Good place to start. Cheers Tom.

I had that problem with mine and the voltage at the lights was not what it should have been. Everything checked out good including grounds and relays so I ran a new power lead to them and it worked OK. I never could find why the original lead had low voltage so I finally just cut it out. My first thought was a bad ground or connection at the relay but that didn't prove out.

Also make sure the 3 plug connector that plugs into the headlight is right. Sometimes the wires get mixed up.

What size are the wires feeding the headlights? Typically older cars (and Cobra replicas) were wired with 18-16 ga wire. They aren't large enough for Halogen bulbs, which draw more current . My kirkham ,with it's old time wiring has the same problem with it's sealed beams, as did my '68 and '86 Porsche's when I switched them to H-4's. You need to run bigger wires from relays, and feed the relay's direct to battery through fuse or ckt breaker to maintain 14vdc at the bulb.

Are the headlights set-up on relays? Most Cobras that I have seen run all the power through the switch.

I ran relays to the high and low beams and ran a 10 nice hefty input wire into the relay. They are definitely not dim anymore.
