Roll bar

Hey guys Bulldog here. I have decided. To put a chrome driver side roll bar on my 1992 c r cobra . does anyone know where I can get a kit ? Thanks

If you search on this forum, there are specs for creating one...
Don't think you'll find one for a Classic Roadster.
I tried putting together a "group buy" to get some 304 SS ones made but that fell through.

I thought the 304SS would have been a good alt to chrome where you would have been able to polish it to a mirror finish and rust resistent.

Don't up and buy some generic roll bar off ebay and expect it to fit. Search this site for the plans someone uploaded for the classic roadsters roll bar and have one made. I custom made mine. Welding required.

FYI guessing no matter the source it will take pondering, thought and fortitude to get it in.
I would get a style you like and work the installation

Food for thought...

My advice would be to not bother at all. Roll bars are designed for racing while wearing a crash helmet.
The roll bars on Cobras sit close behind occupants' heads, and combined with low back seats and low cowls, pose a far greater threat to passenger safety than most realize. Most serious injuries in Cobra crashes are from blunt force trauma to the back of the head. Cobra accidents involve spinning out and impacting fixed structures far, far more frequently than capsizing. It's one thing to accept the risk of putting a roll bar behind your own unprotected noggin, but think twice before exposing your partner or passenger to that danger.
In quite a few documented Cobra accidents, the driver has been killed or severely injured while the passenger fared much better. That's because most Cobras only have a roll bar waiting to bludgeon the skull of the individual in the driver's seat.

While, I do agree with Buzz 100% about roll bars. We have that "One in a million" chance that the roll bar worked to save a life on the street. Ask Dan55, if we would still have him around to tease, after his roll over. if I remember correctly, his (Shorter) passenger was not hurt, because of the single roll bar kept the car off her. As a gambler, I think I take my chance's without one, odd's are in my favor, besides I can think of worse way to go (Laying in bed, The Big C, etc). I'd rather go in my Beloved Cobra.

Needs pro installation

hi,
I had a NHRA legal 6 point rollbar in my 1st cobra. It is more involved than just a bolt in kit, it is fabricated and mig welded in.
the CR kit would need extra frame supports welded in and rollbar hoop welded to that. It would not be track legal anyway as the hoop is too narrow and is not as wide as your shoulders, needs to be 3" taller than your head. Also would need a drivers side bar welded in, must be 1/2 way between shoulder and elbow.

You can make any bar you like for looks or for "show" only.

Buzz you right on the money! That is why I put headrests in all the cars. that wont allow your head to touch the roll bar. The perches are frenched into the frame and made from 1/4" steel. The bar can be raised up to 8" at the top position, a 3rd brace can be added. Of cores this is not as per original, but that has never ben our goal. I have no dead customers in 32 years.
