Need a new windshield

Not having luck with the search function. I have a CR LTD now my windshield cracked after 14 years of trouble free driving. The crack started at the driver side upper wind wing screw, but why it cracked after years of service??? Stuff happens I guess. Where to source a new windshield??? Anybody know??? Thanks in advance for your help.

Try Shell Valley. I just replaced mine after 26 years. They were great to deal with.

Tim,
Do you have a Classic Roadster?? I am not sure if all windshields fit all cars.

Thanks,
John

I just went through this, so try to resurrect my thread. I have an E-M. It looks to me that there are only a handful of glass suppliers for our Cobra's. The dimensions seem to be pretty much the same. Shell Valley is the OEM supplier for E-M and I suspect a number of others. It's worth a call. They may be able to walk you through measuring yours to see if the one they make will work. FFR also sells a nice windshield. When I broke mine, I was sure I'd never find the right one. It took 3 days and they delivered it in another 3.

I can't say this for certain as it has been several years since it happened but a friend of mine with a Classic Roadster had to replace his windshield and after trying a couple I believe he finally got one from Factory Five.

Cobra Valley make a nice poly windshield. Not sure if it will fit? Maybe worth a call and ask Randall

John, our windshield are the same as the rest. Just did some checking on HighPlansDrifter, car, with mine same as everyone else (One thing ours share with the rest) Bruce Snyder brought a Lexan windshield for his FFR, and it will never break again. Send a PM to him., and ask for his suppler. Or me I have his phone#, Hope this help's MaSnaka. Cheers Tom.

Thanks,
I have some research to do. I see Cobra Valley offers 3 different sizes and custom size if needed. So I don't think all windshields are the same. I will check and compare and report back. If Factory Five will fit that would be awesome...the least expensive by a lot.

I have a CR1 and a CR2. Talk to Shell Valley. Shell valley will definetly 100% fit a CR.

I really like my Cobra Valley Poly Glass windshield. Nice to feel pretty positive that I'll never have to replace it.

It's my understanding that *nearly* all windshields are the same with the exception of later model Superformance and Backdraft cars. I replaced mine a couple years ago with one from Finish Line (came with car when I got it) but it has since cracked thanks to a rogue rock on Hot Rod Power Tour. I plan on replacing with the PolyGlass windshield because I intend on putting some good miles on my CR and don't want to deal with replacing the glass every couple years.

We have a club get together in a week and a half. I will use that opportunity to do some measuring of some windshields and see mainly if the factory five will work. If not I will be looking at the other sources mentioned. F5 was the least expensive so I'm optimistic that will work. If not well...

Thanks,
John

This is a follow up on my windshield saga. I ended up ordering a windshield from Factory Five racing. $298 plus $91 shipping. It was at my door in 2 weeks. I enlisted the help of an auto glass specialist who works with hot rods and custom sizing glass as well as daily driver repairs. His name is Steve from Auto City Glass in Oxnard. Well today was the day. I took the windshield to him and 3 1/2 hours later it was done. Not a DIY project and I'm glad I had his expertise measuring, massaging, sanding and finally fitting and assembling my car back together. We agreed on $300 for his time. I am a happy camper. Some of the other vendors that were suggested offered windshields at around my all in cost without installation. Oh...while the crack looked like it originated at the wind wing screw there was no evidence of any contact from the screw. Apparently it was a small rock or something.

See you out on the road,
John
