clutch

I have a super heavy clutch. It is a 351 Windsor 5 speed. Any solution? New pressure plate?? Rich

A softer pp would probably work or go to a dual disc setup.

Depends on what the problem is. If you have a cable clutch mechanism, my first thought would be to lube the cable well. On my FFR, I lubed it every year, and you could tell the difference.

What pressure plate is in there now? Is it a heavy duty racing clutch? Or a stock replacement?

Then I would look at the clutch quadrant. Some people install a short throw racing quadrant, which decreases the clutch pedal throw. The downside is that it increases pedal effort.

If all that looks good, I'd install this from Mike Forte. Only take about an hour to install with a couple of wrenches. No need to remove the clutch.

If it's cable or linkage it could be a leverage problem! The shorter the the throw (pedal movement) the more force required! This is also true for hydraulic clutches but may be easier to fix! If the pedal is to heavy swap to a smaller master cylinder piston diameter, if the throw is to long on not completely disengaging the clutch a larger diameter master cylinder piston my be required!

I modified my CR II cable pedal box to hydraulic. I don't recommend it, unless you like standing on you head! First I went to small then WAY to heavy! Getting the right throw and angle from the CR II clutch pedal lever to the master cylinder was a pain! If I had it to do over again I would by an after marked hydraulic pedal box!

No joke I tore the meniscuses in my left knee before I got it right! I'm in physical therapy now because I hurt it again working on a house!
