Small favor...
Would someone here with a CR1 or 2 get a few pictures of the stock sway bar installed on their car please. From the side/front.
I found an old post by Don Scott saying someone had their front sway bar installed upside down. I’m thinking the fellow who built mine back in the day did the same thing. I had it out, but put it back on the same way it came out. I installed the adjustable coil overs- good for a 0 to 3” drop, and noticed about an inch drop with it all the way down. It’s like the car is stuck. Zero bounce. Hard as a rock. I loosened the sway bar a bit and felt a bit of bounce. I’m thinking the car just can’t be lowered because it’s stuck up on the sway bar. Any pictures would be great! I’ll be able to tell from the bends if it’s on correctly. Thanks guys!!! |
A few of the suspension threads about coil overs has them. The stock fox body sway bar just bolts in the two holes in the lower control arm and

Ok, I was able to find one photo, and the sway bar is in the same way as mine. It wasn’t installed, so I couldn’t see the end links.

It definitely feels like the car is binding. It has no play or bounce, rocksolid and sitting way too high. Odd. Just an update if anyone is interested...
No difference with the sway bar attached or disconnected. In ride height or stiffness. Was hoping for another inch lower. I may have to order different springs. One day. Cheers Michael |
Michael do you have your engine installed?? I cant tell by your pics. That would help your front end settle down if you don't. Sway bar looks good but how do I know mine is not upside down???
I just checked mine out. CR1, sway bar sweeps with the upwards bend to the control arm. My end link is the same as yours. PM me if you want pics. John |
Thank you for looking John! Glad to hear it looks the same as yours. I could only find 1 photo in the other posts where you could clearly see it, but it wasn’t connected. I hope yours isn’t upside down, cause then mine is too lol.
Yup, engine is installed. Small block with a lot of aluminium and minimal accessories so it’s a bit on the light end I guess. Also, all of the suspension was loosened and then re-torqued with the car on the ground, including the sway bar. I think that’s as low as I can get with these springs. Getting very close to driving it for the first time! It might settle after a few miles too. Cheers Michael |
I purchased the control arms and coil overs from Don Scott when the business was still operating. Actually my contact there was a guy named Pete. Their supplier was Pro Shock but I couldn't tell you the part numbers of the springs or shocks, or control arms for that matter. I have a big block so the rates wouldn't be the same anyway.
