Hardtop.being developed

I’m working with a company in the UK that makes a really nice hardtop for the smaller Cobras. I’m collaborating with the developer, Andy, and his North America partner, Revival Motor Sport in Bristol, NH, to custom-design a version that fits our model.
I chose the fastback style, and I’ll be receiving a raw production top, no gel coat or interior finish. I already have a fiberglass fabricator lined up who can handle the custom work. Once it’s completed, we’re planning to 3D scan the finished piece so we can develop a proper model specifically for our cars. If you’re interested in being part of this project, please let me know. I’ve attached some photos as well. The plan is to have the top shipped to the U.S. in January, and my fabricator has it scheduled for February. I think the fastback looks great, and more importantly, it makes the Cobra a lot more usable by extending the driving season beyond what an open roadster allows. |
You may want to move this to Talk Cobra… this site is down often and quite a bit of us have migrated to the other site. A lot of long term CC members and your demographic are there too.

Looks good
I think the top looks like it could have been designed by someone when Shelby was still around and I think that he would have seen that it was both aerodynamic and aesthetic in its design. Bravo on the design and work that you have done and I hope that it becomes commercially available.

Howw is the trunk going to open ?

I have seen a similar design. The rear legs in the photo appear to be a little too close together. I assume they are meant to allow clearance for the trunk lid to open between them.
A minor tweak would be all that is needed. John |

So I found these guys in the UK who make two types of Cobra roofs, 427hardtop.com. They’ve got a U.S. distributor called Revival Automotive up in Bristol, NH.
Right now they only make tops for the smaller Cobras like ERA and Factory Five, but I’m working on getting an unfinished one and having it re-engineered to fit our Classic Roadsters. It’ll be widened, stretched so the trunk still works, and the glass is getting redesigned too. And honestly… I never loved the Dragon Top — it looks like someone stuck a football helmet on a Cobra. This one is way more modern and actually looks amazing. I’ve also got a couple shots of the LeMans top, which looks just as good. I guess I’ll post both and let everyone decide… although I already know which one wins. |

The LeMans type roof, shorter at the trunk.

Mr Bruce has been making the Lemans style hardtops, along with other styles, rite here in the USA for over 15 years. The major problem is the roll bar height on many replicas, I do make a bubble to clear the roll bar, that must be fitted to the top, and fiber glassed in place but 'glass work is beyond the capabilities of most Cobra people, The only cars that my tops fit out of the crate are the original cars, ERAs and the 289 cars I make.

Hi Mr. Bruce,
I’m fully committed to adding a hardtop to my Classic Cobra in the near future, and I’m very interested in seeing what you have available. Please let me know the best way to contact you directly, and whether you might have an offer or option that would work well for my setup. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you. |
