dash ignition switch ? for DV

Ed,

I bought a dash ignition switch from you. I'm getting to the point where it's time to install it. I can't seem get the bezel off the switch, Whats the trick? The other thing is how do you secure it to the dash?

Thanks

Brandon,

You apparently already installed the tumbler/key into the ignition, or did I do that?
Shame - shame :) Now I'll just have to sell you another one!

Ok... take a paper clip or like wire/material. Look at the lower part of the front of the key hole. You will see a small hole. Just barely insert the end of the paper clip into this hole and rotate the key to the left. If you do it correctly, the key will pass by the accessory posistion one click. When it does that remove the tumbler and key as a unit. The switch and bezel will then come apart.

Drill a hole in the dash to match the inside of the bezel perfectly. You want this as tight as you can get it. I actually use a rubber hammer/mallett to drive it in. You will need to make a "washer" roughly 7/16's thick with the same inside diameter as the bezel. I make them out of body filler or a piece of wood. (The thickness vary's due to the thickness of your dash.)

Now you have the bezel in place from the front, take the switch with spring in place and force it on the bezel and twist until the side pins lock in place. Two hints here, nice if your bezel is pre aligned to have "off" straight up, and again you want this as tight as you can get it.

Now reinstall the tumbler and key in the same posisiton you took it out, turn the key to the right and your done. Hook up the wiring and you now have an original '66 style key switch!

If this is as clear as mud, been a very, very long day, call me. LEAVE ME A MESSAGE if you get the machine! I wil get back to you asap! 740-852-5280
