Oops !

While reading the thread about lowering the engine and front suspension I found reference to "cutting off A coil" from the CR supplied front springs. I could have sworn the manual said to cut off 1-1/2 coils......which is what I did. After re-assembling the front suspension, the front end looked low, but hey, that's what the manual said. Did I cut off 1/2 coil too much:confused: Is my car a cantidate for coil-overs:confused:

There were 3 different springs that the manual refers to. These were all donor springs from the Pinto and Mustang II. The springs that Classic sells are custom and don't normally need any cutting, however, a few years ago the spring mfg. sent wrong springs to them that were to tall. They usually needed 1 coil cut to have proper ride height. I have cut as much as 1 1/2 from them without any problems. The car does ride a bit lower but I like that look. If you don't have any clearance problems I would leave it, otherwise you may need to buy new springs. The springs Classic sells now don't need to be cut. Coilovers would be the best option but you would need to change your lower arm to a tubular style to accept the shock.
