Fuel System Questions
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO MOUNT MY ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP?
I am thinking of mounting my CARTER electric fuel pump in the space between the fuel tank and the frame on the passenger side. The pump inlet will be 4 or 5" above the bottom of the tank and will have about 28" of line to the tank outlet. I WAS also going to use a FRAM cartridge filter between the tank and pump, but it is pretty big and hard to package. It's probably overkill for my setup anyway. What kind of filter should I use? I'm also going to re-rout the 3/8" fuel line down the passenger side since I'm not using an engine driven pump. This will give me a more direct line to the EDELBROCK carb. How does this set up sound ? I think by the time this project is done I'll have enough left over parts to build another car !! |

Sounds exactly like the way we install ours. Use a large filter from Jegs or Summit. If you have installed the steel "L" or 3" angle between the rear frame rails for your 4-point seatbelts, then you can hang the pump and filter from it. Sounds like you are making good progress! DV |

Take a look at this setup from Permacool. I think it's a better system than the Fram canister type. I'm using it with great success. Never underestimate the importance of a quality fuel filter!
