YeeeeHaaaaw!

Houston....We have ignition!! YeeeeHaaaaw! Man it sounds great!
Can't wait to wake up the niegbors tomorrow. Just kiding...took it down the street with the wife just for a ride....under 2 nd gear power...just putting...got no brakes yet..well hand brakes only...and since it was late at night...NO KIDS on the street....but had a lot of oil comming out of the rear of the T5 transmition...is this because I had filled the shifter case to full...I think I filled up that case 4 or 5 times...or is it because I have a seal problem?
I need some help on this on.
Snake.

Snake,
Pull the tranny "Fill" plug, it's on the side, when it quits draining, the tranny is filled to the proper level. You may have damaged the rear seal by overfilling...maybe not.

Congratulations on the start up! Now, tell us how you got it running.

Hey ED! Pull the tranny....that sounds like a big and painfull job...are you shure?
How we got the motor running I ended up useing a points distributor. I wasn't the mechanic my brothers friend was the one that got it going. Need to check the timming though...the timming gun wasn't working right....but it doesn't back fire...doesn't burn oil...I'm glad about that...it's not a new engine. Really sounds good....even at hight rev's. Jim the mechnic...used the Holley ingniton system as the main system and not the Distributor....Ok I might not be making any sence here...but I think he said the points are not being used the why it would normally work...as each time the Distributor turns it sparks or fires 8 times once for each cylander...this way the igniton system does the work...I hope this makes sence to someone....!! Now I need a way to hook up the fan for the rad...an easy way....I have the fan from CR...with no relay...can you hook it up direct to a switch....or do you need a relay for it?

Do you have the speedo cable installed in the trans, if not then there is a big hole that's leaking fluid.
Don

Man do I feel like a jerk....I haven't looked yet...finishing up the engine area....But Don....I'm shure you hit the nail right on the head!!!! Duh! I don't have the speedo cable in...I didn't even think about it...I tell you...once the motor starts....all you want to do is go for a ride.
Thanks buddy...I needed that...back to reality!
Snake.
You wouldn't happen to have one for a Stewart Warner Speedo gauge would ya.

Turk 08-11-2002 11:08 PM

No Speedometer cable to plug the hole in the transmission...
No Bakes....

What else don't you have?

Sounds like my first ride. No doors, no seats, no plates, no registration, no patience!!

TURK
Enjoy!

Snake,
RE-read my thread. Pull the Tranny "PLUG", NOT the tranny!
But, if you don't have a speedo' cable in place.....
