Cam Bearing Change??

I'm going to install a more agressive cam in my 1986-87 302 (roller cam). Is it necessary to install new cam bearings?

Also do you know if my valve stem seals are the 3.8 umbrella type?
Thanks,
Dave

It's not necessary to change the bearings unless they are worn. Look at them when you pull the old cam. There shouldn't be any grooves or gold material showing. Most of the stock seals are the umbrella type. Most of this depends on the heads. Once you pull a valve cover you should be able to look at the seals to see which type you have.
