Front spring lbs.

Hello all,
I'm about to replace front shocks with Carrara coil overs. This conversion is for factory Mustang II upper and lower A arms. Lightest springs offered are 375 lbs. Do you think 375 lb. springs are OK ?
The car has a small block. I can't remember what springs are there now.
Thanks for your help.

I think replicas typically us about 300lb/inch front springs. I suspect 375 would be about like adding a frong sway-bar...but with a rougher ride.

Technology is great...when it works.

I use the Carrera setup on the Cobras I build. The 375lb spring works great. The Carrera setup gives a great ride. You will need to get a longer shock than the Mustang II uses. The tower on the Classic is taller than stock. The shock I use is a #3257SU058. The spring is an 8MB375. I haven't seen a setup that will work with the stock lower arm unless it is modified. I would double check with them and find out for sure it will work.

I recently changed mine over to Koni's. I had 500# springs up front. A builder had advised me to do that so I would "never need a sway bar." When I switched to the Koni's I also replaced the 500's with 350's. It was a great switch. It made a nice difference, but if I had it to do over, I would have used 375-400's.
