Help with clutch fork
I'm not sure what clutch fork to use. My trans is a TKO with a Lakewood bell housing. I tried Ford part #E6ZZ-7515-A, but it doesn't appear to be long enough.It barely comes out of the bell housing.What bracket is used at the transmission for the clutch cable and is there a boot of some sort available to cover the hole on the bell housing where the fork comes out? Any help would greatly be appreciated!Thanks

It will work. That's the one I use on the lakewood. There should be a hole in the bellhousing for the cable to go through. I don't know of any cover that will fit. You could probably use a stock one from a Mustang Gt and modify it to work. I just don't run one.

Like Don said, there is about a 1/2" - 5/8" hole the cable goes through, and the plastic cable end butts against. To keep it in place, a C-clip holds it from the rear.
You might want to hold the middle of the cable in place with a cable clamp to keep it away from the headers. The stock Mustang bellhousing ('84 - '88), Ford Parts, has a little metal box that covers the clutch fork. Keeps water and trash out. Don't know how it would fit the Lakewood, of if Lakewood makes something to fit. But if you plan on doing a lot of street driving, you should cover this hole. |
Hey, thanks for the advice.I do have another question though.Is there a certain height that the pivot point should adjusted to, before the fork is installed?

Yes there is, and don't remember what the adjustment parameters were. Got the spec's from late Mustang shop manual.

Did you adjust the bell housing to make sure that it was aligned properly? With the Lakewoods I guess you should do this... I never found the tool to do it. Have you? Thanks |
I know the alignment needs to be checked ,but have not checked it yet.Not sure how I'm going to do this.I do have a dial indicator with a magnetic base.Do you know the height of the pivot point when it's installed in the bell housing?Have not found the answer to this one yet. thanks!
