Fuel pump mounting location options??
Classic Roadster question: Well the custom Fuel Safe fuel cell is on the way. I was studying the rear getting ready for the install and thought I would re-locate the electric pump and fram fuel filter. Right now I have them mounted on the outside of the frame in the left (driver) side rear fender. I am not too happy with this spot in that there is no protection other than fiberglass. Where did you guys mount yours? Don't you have to stay close to the fuel cell/tank and doesn't the pump have to be level with or below the pick-up on top of the cell? There is not a whole lot of room there. One could mount it to the gas tank retaining flange that runs parrallel with the rear end, but it will be awfully close to the diff. Up above, there is room between the trunk and cockpit to mount them. However this will be above the tank. Will this result in fuel pickup issues? Thanks guys

SSSnake,
Very nice, but CR's isn't similiar to your car. You can mount it below the flange of the tank, or on the inboard side of the rear rails. The slight rise of the frame from the tank, being that close, has never been a problem for us. DV |
DV,
Sorry about that. I just figured i'd post the picture. Glenn |
SSSSnake,
Thanks for the pic. Thats some fine craftsmanship. DV, I will look at the flange again and see if I can make something work. Thanks for the replies guys. Curt |
