spring size
i have a classic roadster using the 1978 chevette rear springs they recommend, having problems with the heigth even with the adjustment screws --running 295/50sr-15 tires. any ideas on a taller spring to use

The best information yes, is what Art advised. Don and I both carry the correct springs and shocks to cover about any contingency for the rears. Your rear springs should be 13x 175-225 range. Most guys go with the 175's but if you want to hug the road a little harder try the 200's. "Pro" or "ALdens" coil overs work well back their too! Same Spring rates please. DV |
DV, the 175's are too light for the car. The 200's work but they will collapse after time. I use the 225's. I use the Pro-shock SM 600 on the rear with the coil spring, oil filled and light valved. When I use the Pro-Shock coil overs I go with the 250 spring. Works great and gives an excellent ride.

Hmmm, I'm still using the first set of springs on my personnal DV Cobra and they're 175's. Interestesting, very intersting. DV..aint more than one opinion great! :3DSMILE: |
DV, are you sure? The stock Chevette springs are 200's and they are pretty light. The problem I always have with the 200's are over time they seem to collapse. If you get 2 guys in the car with my weight it will bottom non stop. The springs that Classic supplies now are 225's. Maybe your springs are metric:JEKYLHYDE . Maybe kilograms:eek: ! Or I suppose if they are about 2 feet long:D .
