Rear end alinement

Don,
I notice the rear doesn't exactly line up with the transmission.
It's more noticeable with the drive shaft in the car. Looks to be off by 1/2 inch. Won't this cause undue wear on u-joints and cause a rumbling noise? How would I move the rear over?

Art,
If I may,(I get up earlier than Don! :) ) what you are seeing is correct. IF you measure out the axles-axle tubes you will find one is about 1" longer than the other. In a Mustang, T-Bird, etc. this is hardly noticeable due to the length of the drive shaft.

The off set once installed in the frame is correct.. I know of know one that has ever lost a U-joint for mis-aligment. Now I've snapped a few in my day by a little abuse now and then :D

Drive on...not a problem!

Thanks for info, that's one more thing I don't have to worry about.
I notice the right rear wheel is a little further away from the frame too! Hope this is normal?

Art, DV is right on. The wheel does stick out a little more on the right (1/2") but won't be a problem unless you get the offset wrong on the wheels.
Don
