Easy question for everyone.
Where do you mount the 4 relays??? The book shows a picture of everything, expect where to mount these. Obviously somewhere near the fuse box, and it says in fron of cowl hoop on the drivers side??? Which side of fuse box?, On very top lip of fire wall? How far down should it be from top? The only place that seems to have enough room would be in the middle of car? One picture would sure help the manual here.

I didn't use Classic's harness (one of the many things I never received from them back in 1990), so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt.
I've got relays mounted on back of the dash, on the firewall (both sides), and out in the area of the door latches. About the only thing you need to worry about when mounting the relays is to make sure you can get to the relay and the connectors on the relay (being electro-mechanical devices, relays can go bad with time). |

I have mine mounted in different places like Petek said. Just made sure I could get to the relays and the contact connectors easily. I have never had any problem but as he said, they can go bad.

I mounted mine on the left as high as I could.I used bolts instead of rivets as the manual suggested. They are all accessable. While I was at it I drilled a hole large enough to get a deep well socket
on the brake /clutch pedal rod,cause it's tough getting a wrench on it from the inside. I bought a plastic plug to cover the hole after I installed pedal bracket. |
One technique that I used to mount a number of things, relays included, was to use an extra nut and lock washer on a bolt (or screw) to make the bolt (or screw) captive.
For example: bolt -> washer -> firewall -> washer -> lock washer -> nut -> relay -> nut (Art, I wish I had thought to drill out a hole for removing the bake/clutch rod ... I've got to remove the whole pedal assembly to work on anything!) |

Page 3-49 does tell you where to mount them but it's tough to judge without a picture. Hope this helps.

P.S. When you take over CR, will you relocate to Fargo, or bring the company back to Minnesota? Both are approximately the same distance from me so wouldn't matter either way. |
If and when the sale takes place I will be moving the company to Minnesota. All the principals in the sale have been really busy so we still have not settled on anything yet. We have agreed on a price but we're working on the repayment schedule. I will hopefully know one way or the other this week.
