GTech Competition Performance Meter

Has anyone tried one of these?....and do they work well? I can't see how horsepower can be calculated unless you have 100% traction. If you're spinning your rears like they're on butter you wouldn't get much of a reading I'd think....

Actually a pretty good device. I have run it on on my truck and will be doing it on my car soon (It's been down for some repars). The GTech will give you HP & Torque but so much more. 60 foot times 1/4 mile time, 0-60 etc. Sat morning here and have to run errands and a car show this PM. Email me and I can answer your specific ?'s. & Yes 100% traction will givw you your best #'s.

The device is best used as a tuning unit to compare runs and determine if your tweaking is productive.

I have one also. It works great. It's all based on an accelerometer in the unit so you need to make sure it's level while using it. I've had several people use it and then take thier car to the track. It's always been within 1 or 2 tenths of actual 1/4 times.
Don

BTW, my 1988 Chev extended long box runs consistent 18.8 1/4 miles, and 11 second 0-60. Anybody want to race!!

That sounds great....I work in the film industry doing special effects and when we did the Fast and Furious we had a load of all types of equipment to use...just as props mounted in the cars. Very little of it was ever even connected. We had one of the earlier models....wish I'd hung on to it...:(
In any case I didn't want to invest that much into something I'd never use or that was a "gimmick".... Glad to hear it works well....I'll have to spring for one I guess....:)
