Ferrules
1 Attachment(s)
Don,
Have you got any of these feerules used on the doors for the side curtains? I would like to try adapting two of them for the hardtop screw holes. Thanks, Mike |
Make that "ferrule"
|
Mike, I don't have any like that but you can get them from Finishline. 888-436-9113

Thanks Don
Any black carpet yet? |
Mike, I don't have any in yet for sale. We are still filling backorders on almost all upholstery we get in. I'll let you know when I do.
Don |
MRCOBRA,
I do not think you will get them to work. They have a very small hole and most of the top and side curtain studs I have seen are about the same size as the outside of that type of ferrule. Some one does make one that has a larger inside and is flatter at the top. E-M was using them in the 80's and I am pretty sure I saw them in a catalog someplace. Just can not remember were right this moment. |
Bruce,
Thanks for thinking of that but I actually tried my hartop bolts, which are about 3/8", and they fit inside this ferrule perfectly. I'll try Finishline next week, but if you remember where you saw the ones that EM used, please post that jic. Thanks, Mike |
Mike,
I do not think those are 3/8 more like 5/16. I have a set at the shop and if you can wait till Monday when I get back in I can measure them for you. |
Bruce,
You're right. The hold down bolts are 5/16", but the i.d of the ferrules is about 3/8", so the bolts fit pretty well. |
Mike,
Ok I am lost. :JEKYLHYDE What are you going to do thread the furrules? You said something about "bolts" and most of the kits I have seen are a piece of steel rod. |
Bruce,
The ferrules just protect the hole in the fiberglass and finish off the top of the hole. There are nuts permanently attached under the fiberglass that the hardtop bolts screw into. |
Now I guess I get it. On your car you have nuts in the glass and you are wanting to finish of the and protect the finish on the car by using the furrules as a guide and protector.
I guess that is what threw me as most of the cars i have seen just drop into the hole in the furrule and do not bolt to the car at all. Sorry I can be a bit thick at times. ;) |
No problem, Bruce.
I appreciate your willingness to help |
