I finally got a chance to take the car out with the new brake pedal setup. We do have brakes !!!! I thought I was going to snap my head off the first time I slammed them. The new pedal ratio did the trick. I'm having new pedals made up so if you want to change them I should have them in about a week or so. To modify the pedal box you just need to drill a new hole straight down from the old one. I'll post a picture of the new location. This should take care of our years of no brakes.
Don ps If you want to get a pedal give Pete a call and he will write the order. I'm going to sell them at my cost plus shipping. |

Here's a picture of the pedal box and where the hole needs to be drilled. Of course you need to drill through the other side also.:p

My pedal box is coming out tonight ... no, I'd better wait a week! THANK YOU DON!!!
|
I got the new brake pedals in today. They will ship tomorrow. Out of the kindness of my big heart they are FREE with no shipping charges. I hope it works as well for everyone else as it did for me. All you need to do is drill the new hole in the proper location, take the old bushing out and put it in the new pedal.

Don,
You're the best!!! I'll make sure I take plenty of pictures and update my web site for everyone to see and use. |
Don
I second what Petek said " You're the best". I appreciate your generousity ,however, I do not mind paying for the pedal that I ordered. I believe an honest workman is worthy of his hire. You deserve to be compensated for you time and effort. Paul Hopper |
Hey Don!
Hey There Don.
Is this the reason why the brake pedal is lower then the cluch pedal? If so...would it be possible to get one of those modifid rods so I can improve my braking power. Thanks Don. Gerry. |
Snake, you might have the pedal in the wrong hole. It needs to be in the hole closest to the firewall. I will get a new one to you.
Don |
I shipped out all the new pedals that I had made (25). I didn't think I would get that many responses. I'll have more in about a week. I'm making 50 this time. Anyone tried theirs yet?
Don |
I'll be putting it in the car just as soon as it arrives ...
|
Me too !!!

Hi Don!
Installed my pedal this evening!:D It looks a little high relative to the gas and clutch pedals. The pedal face is about 45* to the floor. Would it be a bad idea to use one of the other existing holes that are further back from the firewall? It looks like there would still be a good angle relative to the push rod, etc. Thanks! Dwain |
Dwain, give it a try. The pedal ratio will still be the same.
Don |
Done!
That looks and feels just about perfect IMHO. Used the next hole - about 1" or so further from the firewall. Dwain |
Thanks for the Pedal, Don!
Now, does anyone have a picture of the installed pedal? I am hoping that the new angle may bring the foot contact point on the pedal closer to the driver. Thanks, Mike |
I am really anxious to try out the new pedal configuration. Since I'm so far away I will probably be the last to recieve one, but I just have to know....How is the new pedal ratio working out for everyone?

I haven't recieved mine yet either and I started this whole thread. But I am patient and realize how busy Don and the boys must be. Paul |
We have more pedals being made. The one to Alaska went by snail mail so you should get it pretty soon.
Paul, your pedal is in the 2nd run. It should ship out this week. If anyone else needs one please give Pete a call to get it on order. 1-888-722-6272 Don |
Don.... Thanks again. You guys do a terrific job.
Cobra427.... Kinda makes you feel like a kid again doesn't it ? Waiting for the mailman to arrive with your SUPER SPY decoder ring with compass and magnifying glass. So let's get some feedback from those of you that have installed the pedal... |
Well, I spend yesterday and today trying out the new pedal and have decided to keep the old pedal.
I drilled out a new hole and mounted the pedal but the pedal ended up too far forward (too high). So I decided to use one of the pre-existing holes, pedal was too far back (too low). Noting the similarity to the story of the three bears I decided to drill a new hole between the existing holes. Remounted everything and the pedal was just a little bit too high. Brake effort improved (less force required) but the pedal was still just a little too high for comfort. (I should note that I am not of average size, I am 6'4" tall with size 12 feet so fitting everything into the foot well of my Cobra is a challenge in itself. Folks of more diminutive stature fit just fine!) So Don, thanks but no thanks. I'll try to remember to bring the pedal assembly to the DVSF with me. I have gotten to be darn good at removing and then re-installing the pedal box. One of these days I'm going to buy myself some air tools ... I about wore my arms out with the manual ratchet wench! |
