Motor mount question for Don or anyone else
Don
Have you ever mounted an engine on solid mounts. Are there any complications eg: metal fatigue from vibration? I am having a little trouble getting appropriate mounts for the new ('63 with only 2 bolt holes) 427 co that I want to install. The CR weldments from the later FE engine that I had in the car, with 4 bolt holes for mounting, use the two holes that don't exist on the '63. The old rubber isolators have holes too far apart for the '63 block's new holes. The new rubber isolators that I got will mean that the weldment will have to be cut ,also, they raise the engine about 3/4" to 1" higher. I already have hood clearance issues. So, I thought maybe a solid mount adapter plate would be easy to fabricate that will fit the '63 block and the CR weldments. Paul |
Paul, I've never tried them on a Cobra but I have driven a street car with them. Just about shook the teeth from my head. Any and all engine vibrations will be felt in the car. There must be a mount available for that motor or a custom plate between the old and the new?

Thanks Don. I will keep looking. Solid as last resort.

i agree with Don... at the least build an adaptor plate from the engine to the mount.
