Clutch Cable???
Hey Don,
Thanks for your help...The cable (3rd one) was too close to the header tube (#5?) and had melted inside!! I installed the new one after putting several layers of adhesive backed tin foiled insulation on it...So far it is working fine!!**) I'll let you know in a few months how it is holding up!! As always I truely appreciate your time and input!! I put cable clamps on clutch cable, and speedo cable attached to inner fenderwell. Keeps them away from the headers, and planted solidly.
Ceramic coated headers, inside and out, pose far less heat damage problems to plastic, vinyl, and rubber parts under the hood. |
Hey Don,
I PM'd ya about the cable and it seems it is deteriorating again even with the heat wrap on it?? Is there anyone making a SS cable for high heat applications?? Is there a way to re-route it?? coosawjack:confused: |
That's the only cable I know of. I have heard of some of the guys using the newer style cable but I haven't tried it. I don't know if the newer cable is any stronger. It looks the same except for the ends. I would try and reroute the cable as far away from the heat as possible. Has anyone else had this trouble?

I'm looking like I'm going to have the same problem. It cleared fine with the old headers, but is running really close to the new ones.... I'm going to fasten it to the fender well and see if that works....
