Front Coil overs.
I just bought the stage 1 kit from CR and while I wait delivery I am collecting parts.. I have the front end and rear end but I need springs and shocks. I am going to go coilover. Can anyone recommend a brand, part numbers or what not. I know everyone says 375 springs for an SB so I am ok with that but what specs do the shock have to comply with??

Carrera Mustang II set-up. By the way, I run the 500 lb springs on my small block CR, but I get out to the track 4 - 6 times a year too.

check out www.speedwaymotors.com they got mustang II coilovers. or you can do like I did and build your own with parts from speedway |

Are there certain stroke specs that the shocks have to meet to fit on the CR frame?

Our car doesn't use the stock Mustang II shock, it's too short. I use the Pro-Shock setup with the 375lb springs on the front. We sell both the front and rear for $400 a pair.

I am using the Carreras MII coilovers on the front. 500 lb springs with heavy 460 big block, and the springs are still backed off quite a bit at that. It is definitely the way to go for better handling.

Carrera springs are all but impossible to find now. I went with Don Scott's setup even though I had a set of adjustable Carreras.... As usual he has found something that works great with the CRs. I thought with the 17" tires I just got that the ride would be a lot harsher than it was with the 16"ers. All I had to do was dial down the spring rate a bit and it smoothed it right out. The pro shocks are nice.

I hear the carreras are really nice. There is a shop local to me that has a bunch of NOS carrera stock. Does anyone know the part number for the ones up front??

Get QA1 coil overs. I just got a pair for the rear. I needed some tech help and got right through to their tech line. Imagine that speaking to a real person. They can answere all of the questions you have.
Once I had the part numbers I ordered them from Jegs.
Apparently Qa1 and carrera merged anyway.

Yeah. I am trying to find out the spec I need to meet for the front end on my new CR kit. I have a massive credit with Summit and want to use it up. They carry QA1 over there. Looks like nice stuff if I can figure out what to buy. ;>)

The best thing to do is setup your ride height (Assuming you have tires/rims) even if you have to have to use jacks and/or blocks. Once your ride height is known all you need to do is measure from the lower mounting point to the top mounting point and the guys at QA1 will be able to set you up with the proper shock.
I don't know if this will help your situation but Summit has a Mustang II conversion kit for the front. It costs 369.00 and I believe it comes with everything you need. Once I get a few more bucks I am going to spring for the new springs.

I would go with what Don Scott recommends. There is no substitute for experience. No offence Jams, but it looks like you do not have a Classic Roadster. Your shocks work great for your car but who knows if the same setup will work on the CR (Don SCott knows what works best through experience).
