Cutting up the body

Hey Don et al..

I was told I need to cut out the floor and cut the back to push it back.. How far do I need to cut up the back and does this look like the right places to cut??

I have not heard of this....
I take it that this is to make for more leg room in the cockpit...
How much more room can you get doing this?
Are you planning on just pushing the back panel a bit further back, this doing some fiberglass work to fill in the gaps?

I guess on the frame that I have it has a metal floor pan so the floor pan from the fiberglass is redundant and can be removed. There is space btween the back and the frame. I was told to cut and push it back. Was just looking to see what others did before I cut it up.

I never cut my floor and I have plenty of room for seat travel.I'd ask Don if this a good idea.

It was Don and Pete that told me to.. ;>) I have the floors cut out, Im just unsure exactly where I should cut the back and how high..

The reason for the cutting is because we changed the floor pans on the front and rear seating area. We dropped the pans about 3" for better leg room. The problem is we haven't had the cockpit mold changed to match the new pans. We are in the process of doing this but we aren't done yet. After you cut out the bottom of the old seat pan fiberglass there is a gap between the frame and the portion of the vertical seat back area. This can be cut up the sides and pushed back to meet the frame. Then you will need to fiberglass in the vertical gap. Since it's not critical that the fiberglass meets the frame at the rear you could just add a piece of aluminum that goes from the base of the fiberglass to the frame. You would need to do that on the inside and outside so you don't get water splashing into the cockpit.
