What is this ??

I have a 1992 Classic Roadster.
I have seen numerous pics of other CR engine bays, but none seem to have this brace accross the front of the engine.
It seems very original, anyone else have one of these, or know what it is, and if it is nessary, as it seems to be always in the way.
Please view some photos I have posted in my gallery
Thanks
Ken

Its a body brace. Ties the front end together. Somewhat like the braces you see on some Mustangs from the cowl to the shock towers.

This bar stiffens up the front end so it will be more consistant when cornering. I do not know if its original or a homemade add-on, but I'd keep it.

It's not a factory piece, someone added it. I've seen guys do this to mount their remote oil filter and overflow tank. They normally add that type of bar for support on the unibody cars but's it's not necessary on our frame. It definitly won't hurt to keep it.
