Water pump & alternator 351W
I have a 92CR with a 351W.
I have noticed a leak from the water pump, and need to replace it. Currently the pump inlet is on the driver side, and snakes down to the lower passenger side to connect to the stock radiator. It seems like a water pump with a passenger side inlet would be cleaner as well as eliminating about 2 feet of radiator hose. Are there any clearance, or other problems with a passenger side pump with the alternator, or other components ??. The motor runs reasonably cool, would anyone recommend a hi-capacity pump, or is the stock one o.k. One more thing, The alternator brackets have seen better days, I hate to spend $100 for March Brackets. Any other recommendations, for a bracket. Thanks |
I replaced my stock passenger side, to an after market aluminum Weiand driver side. I had a clearance problem going from stock to after market and required a $30 March component for my March pullie setup to pull my alternator in from the frame. The after market pumps, right hand, has the belt tensioner bolt about 3/4" further to the passenger side. I could not forsee any issues going from driver side to stock passenger, espescially if yours is after market now (if it is). I have March pullies and alternator bracket which are a pretty penny. My conversion was nearly painless, so going opposite I would imgine would be easier, without clearance issues.
