Front Tire question
Should 255/60-15 fit in the front? Thats what I have, not sure why I bought that size but I have some articulation issues at the lower rear edge of the fenderwell. Should I go to 235's instead or cut the fenderwell back?

I have the 235/60/15 on an 8" rim. Only issue is when turning on dips in the road my tires rub the fender at the top of the arch. An issue I'm trying to solve with coil overs and a-arms. I just haven't got them installed yet. For front tires I feel these are pretty wide and wouldn't want to go wider. When turning the steering wheel at slow speeds it takes some effort ( turning around in a parking lot for example), at speed it's no problem. I have never had an under steering problem either. The car tracks great, if anything it's the rear that wants to slip and slide. I stay off wet pavement and have never been to the track if that makes a difference. That's all I have to offer, hope it helps.

Different make but my NAF 289 does not like anything larger than a 235/60/15 otherwise at highway speed and higher it tends to "hunt and wander"....not a comfortable feeling when driving at speed...btw it is not related to front suspension tuning or alignment on my car...been there, done that and had it checked out...FWIW

On 8" rims, I tried 255/60/15s on my CR and they rubbed in the back of the fender area when turning sharp, like into the driveway. Now I use 235s and no problems. Also I have the Pro-Shock coilovers, and they dont rub anywhere, top or sides.
I do kinda like the look of the 255s better...but they are a bit heavier too for turning. |

I also have the 235's on the front of mine and no problems at all. When
trying to steer when going slowly, be sure to be moving (even creeping) when you turn the wheel - makes a big difference. I learned this trick driving an old fork lift with no power steering - and you had to be moving to make it happen! |

If you don't mind, What size rims and tires are you currently running. Also what back space front and rear. How do you like the BFG's. I am just about ready to get mine on the road and am looking for the corrrect tire and wheel options. I have 16" Compmotive rims and I would like to go with the Goodyear F1 or the Kumo F12's but I cant get them in the right size for 16" rims. The guy checking them out recommended 255-60R-16 (rear) & 245-50R-16 (front) but I cant find any with a tread pattern that I like in that size. Terry |
