is my steering shaft too close ?
Is my steering shaft too close to my exhaust header I have about 1/4 " is that okay?
|
That's cutting it a little tight I think..There's probably that much play in the engine mounts,... but by the same token if it doesn't rub..?????? a little heat should'nt hurt the metal in the shaft.

ooooh...way too close...can you move it easily?????

Wetdog,
My opinion that a full 1/4" is ok, not perfect but ok-unless that 1/4" is between the universal and the header. This may cause the oil to bleed out of the universal. My thoughts are to check the depth of your rods/shafts going into the universals. They may be in or out to far. Simply adjusting them can get you more room. Just a thought. DV |
Thanks all , hole was drilled too low at factory . Filled in hole , re drilled , now steering shaft has almost two inches ...much better
little victories are better than none. |
The steering shaft does get pretty hot. Too hot to touch sitting next to the headers. The more space the better in my opinion.
