seat belts
Where can i get seat belts, base weldment, floor pan bracket and guide?
Thanks Robert |
Robert,
A lot of questions here. First are you going to be using a 3 point harness? (Not legal by NHRA standards any more.) Or a 4-point H harness? Does your frame have nuts welded into the frame on the inside behind where the seats go? Does the rear frame cropssmember have a tab on each side for the "Y" belts to bolt too? (If so this has to be changed if you do go with a 4-point H harness. Simpson, M&R (Great belts.) Jegs, Summitt both have multiple types that come with the correct installation kits. This is a critical safety point so ask all the questions you want. I'll try and help! DV PS. Do NOT bolt any seat belt through the fiberglass and just use any size washer behind them like a lot of company's do. Extremely unsafe AND illegal! All belts have to be bolted into the frame to be legal. |
No nuts welded to frame. Rear crossmember has tab on each side. I'm going with 3 point harness.
Thanks Robert |
Robert,
Didn't mean to leave you hangin'. Some glitches here.......On the rear frame member just about where the large threaded rod (spring aduster goes) does it have two small tabs welded in? One on each side. The tabs will have about a 1/2" hole drilled in them. If this is the case You should have two holes on each side of the car, at the rear of where the seats bolt in and both of these holes will have nuts welded in from the back side. Nuts are not visible from the top side. If these are there this is where the lap belts will bolt in, the "Y" harness will then bolt into the top bracket. If this is not the case feel free to call me and I can tell you how I install the lap belts.- (231) 869-4608. Any time from 7am to 11PM EST- 7 days a week. Let me know please. DV |
DV my cobra was built in 1996. I have to drill the holes you are talking about, there is a tab by each threaded rod. I was wondering where to get seat belts from or if there is a part # for them? After 11 ok 12 years of siting around they are gone.
Thanks Robert PS You did not leave me hanging I can see you have alot on your plate. I greatly appreciate All the help you have given me. |
Robert,
OK, one more question then we'll jujmp in with both feet. Got a MIG welder? Not necessary but it will make this a little easier. Sure wish my camera was still working! DV |
PS. M&R seat belts are great along with Simpsons. Heck even Jegs and Summitt have their own. Sorry I don't have the links but they can all be found on the net.

No mig welder

All righty then, one more stupid question. the build / sell date of '66 is confusing me....
The single hole in the back around the threaded insert for the springs, is it Horizontal to the frame/ground, or is it vertical? DV |
Horizontal
