I need a small favor please.

Would somebody with the bumber tubes please measure the outside diameter for me. I Need to cut the holes in Cpteddies body and I've never had the need to measure the size of the tubes, now I need to know what size to cut the holes since I don't have any yet. Thanks.

The CR ones are too big in diameter anyway, I used ones from FFR.

Buzz Gehle 06-12-2008 06:32 AM

What do you mean by bumber tubes???

The round aluminum or stainless tubes that the bumpers mount to. The tubes slide over threaded rods that pass though the body and are attached to the frame.

Bumper Tubes

DV I just measured mine and they are 1.250 OD. Hope this helps you

Time OUT

I would NOT recommend drilling holes in the body until you get the rods AND the rubber grommets. Then you can measure the grommet and drill the holes.

1.250 OD is quite a big hunk of metal. You might want to go with a smaller diameter.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Kawika 06-12-2008 07:58 AM

mine are also 1.25 od

Double Venom 06-12-2008 08:23 AM

Thanks guys,
1.25 is right for a CR Cobra, May I suggest you do not use the grommets for a pattern? The front top holes are rather egg shaped when done, using the grommet will put you a mile off! (This idea may work on an FFR- I don't remember but it will not work well on a CR!)

FFR is WAY to small and in my humble opinion very puny to begin with. Yes I have built over 25 FFR's so I am not trying to compare the two. Let the flames begin!..........

Thanks for the sizes guys, I simply couldn't remember.

The other ed... your picture looks like an FFR!

Probably.

I was just looking for a quick example.

Side note.

The radiator, gauges and overflow tank got delivered to the house yesterday. When I get back from NJ (tomorrow afternoon) I'll get them shipped out to you.

Cheers,

Ed

If you look in my gallery pictures there are CR bumper tubes with the beautiful new custom made quick jacks supplied by the legendary Tcrist. 1 1/4" O.D. tubes. Remember the FFR hole patterns are 2 1/4" and CR is 3 1/2". The bigger tubes look right with the wider spacing.
