Alignment Saver
Here is a print that I made for the alignment saver for the MII suspension. Thank you TWOOD for sending me a bracket .There was a couple of guys that had e-mailed me for a copy. Their e-mails were on my computer when it crashed so I do not have their info. Sorry guys.

Nice drawing. I mentioned in an earlier thread that I thought the MII in our cars already has the anti-dive angle and that adding this bracket would be redundant in regards to that. In fact doubling the anti-dive angle. I am suggesting a straight angle bracket without the offsetting holes, and instead have aligned holes for the A-arm. The staight bracket would follow the anti-dive angle already built into the front end allowing the A-arm to bolt on from the side instead of the top. Thus the ability to shim for proper the camber alignment setting. I hope I made my thoughts clear on this. Anybody else agree or dis-agree on this? John |

I agree with you. These were designed like this for a reason though. Maybe they were designed for racing. I think I might draw up another set with the holes inline. I dont think that it needs 2 sets of holes to bolt the a-arm thru either. DV, any thoughts on this. What about just using 1/2-13 tapped holes where the a-arms bolt up? Maybe countersunk holes where it bolts to the frame so you dont have to worry about clearing the head of that bolt when bolting up the a-arms. I will have to check if the 3/16 bottom plate is thick enough for the angled area on the flat head bolt. Might have to undercut the bolts for clearance. Terry |

Those are absolutely perfect. The problem is the second set of holes are generally used for round track racing and are not used in the Cobra. If you make them up with the proper singular hole you really have something there! Very nice and professional! Those units work exceptionally well for a coil over set up. Plus you alignment guy will love then instead of rolling his eyes when you bring in a stock Mustang II Suspension! DV |
Anti-dive, I believe the mustang 11 front end was the first to have this and I incorporated it into my front end during construction. I don't remember the exact ford explanation as to how it works but, a geometrical force drives the front end 'up' during breaking as a result of the 3 degree angle....or something like that?.

I can't read the dimensions on my screen. Not that it matters just thought I'd mention it. I am still questioning doubling the anti-dive angle by using the offset holes. Those offsets would or should only be used for applications that don't have the anti-dive angle built into their front ends already. I am no suspension expert but I am just stating what seems to be obvious. Any experts with comments relating to this? John |

Need your help!!!!!!!. Have you ever used these/this type of alignment brackets on RCC Products tubular A-arms? I put the passenger side on today and without any shims the top of the tire already tilts in towards the motor. Any shims will only make it worse. The thickness of the bar that bolts to the bracket is 3/4" thick. You can see a picture of mine on my photo gallery. How thick are the Heidt's bars? Terry, Can you reverse the alignment bracket so you could shim the A-arm the other direction away from the engine? Simply put...rotate it 180 degrees.

That's what I was thinking too. It changes the position about 1/2". It will require extra shims or trim the edge of the base of the bracket in order for it to move closer to the shock tower. It is actually real close. The top of the tire only leans in a couple of degrees. Terry |
I spun the bracket around 180. deg. It will work this way. The tire is tilted in at the top and all of the adjustment will straighten it up. I might neet to get longer bolts because I plan on using a jam nut to lock it into place. I agree with DV. After the alignment I am going to weld the bracket into place.
