Glove box install
I do not see in the manual how to install the glove box. I have a box and a door. thats it. Should I cut out a hole in the dash with a lip so the box slides through the front and then glass it in or should it be glassed in from the back?? Anyone know how this should be done? thanks Jay

When I did mine I cut a hole in the dash and then I dropped the box in and secured it with some construction adhesive. Looks good and doesn't budge.. :)

It shuold contain a package (Finishline? or CR's?) of hardware for installation unless it is a CR's. If it is a CR's box cut out the embossed area of the dash with a small overhang left in place. The box will slide in tight then you can use small screws or rives to attach through the overhang of the box. OR-you can glue it in per OFM.

CR Glove box
That's funny. My 1991 CR turnkey Cobra has a glove box door but no glove box when you open it. Instead you are looking at the windshield wiper motor. I doubt there would be enough room for a box.

Mine has the box and door. The cutout is in the dash and the box is behind the dash and is screwed in from the lip in the door area. The door is attached with a hinge screwed into the box. The door covers up the screws and is flush with the face of the dash.

Jim, there is a plastic box! :)
That's why Finishline is really neat-larger box, bettter made but.....as you should know by now, one mode leads to another! The finish line has to go to the left quite aways, then the wiper motor mount has to be moved to the right. THEN it all fits with a 12/" to spare! DV |
Thank you all. I will cut the hole. thanks again Jay

Sorry, but I did not quite understand your advice. Is there a plastic box that would fit? Where do I obtain it (Finishline)? Would I have to move the wiper motor? Thanks, Jim |
Jim,
CR's should have come with the "box" that goes behind the door. Finishline should come with the box and door with hardware. Finishline you need to cut out the GB area keeping toward the left as much as possible, and yes F.L. you will need to move the wiper motor to the right to the point it just clears the box with maybe a 1/2" grace area. Thanks DV:
However, I have no box. Apparently it was never installed during the original build by CR in Fargo. I have the door mounted in the dash but nothing inside. I will have to try to find just the box or fabricate one. Right now I just tape my registration and insurance card to the inside of the glove box door. Jim |
JIM,
Manchester......Hazard........? :) Do I fit? DV |
