Man,
I love this forum! :D DV |
Hey,
Just like to say Hello. Guys I am new here and I am looking to buy soon. I have my eyes on a Classic Roadster south of Houston. Owner says he has no COO, is it. Certificate Of Ownership? Can you give me some insight as to a stolen CR in Houston. Also has anyone titled a car without one? I'm in Atlanta. Hope to be here for awhile! Thanks |
Ralphy,
I think you mean an "MSO"? Not needed in many States, especially since the car is already titled. You need to talk to Georgia's Motor Vehicle Dept.. Say nothing about a kit... Ask them what you need from a Texas owner to you the buyer for paperwork. They will most likely will tell you to have the Texas (clear title) when you get it home a local inspection to make sure the Title matches the car. Short simple. A note of information, in MOST states when the car is FIRST registered they will abscond with the MSO and keep it in the original filing for title. DV PS.Do you know the sellers name in Houston? |
DV,
The car is still in the build stage. It has never been titled. I will call GA offices. I'm going to send you the ad. I have read others here with the same problem with Classic Roadsters. Thanks, Ralphy |
Ralphy (or anyone else in the Houston/Conroe area that may have any info) -
Car was stolen from a Hooks Airport hangar in Tomball, TX. (just northwest of Houston) approx. July 8, 2009 Car was found July 18, 2009, in Conroe (20 mi. north of Houston) in what the police called a single car accident at approx 7:00 pm. Upon further investigation, it appears whoever stole the car was/were towing it at an excessive speed through an "S" in the road when it broke free of the tow and careened (rearend first) into a raised manhole off the side of the road detroying the left rear fender and shoving the left tire into the back of the passenger compartment bending the axle. There was also significant front end body damage. The doors, hood and windshield were the only things missing - nothing else ! Go figure. We have some leads as it appears to have been an inside job, but nothing concrete. If by some slim chance anyone reading this thread can put 2 and 2 together and provide some info., let me know. The car is titled as a '66 Ford in Texas, but was never registered. May sell as is for that. Or, in view of the fact that it doesn't appear that a new body will be available any time soon (if at all), I may be parting out what's left: seats w/ tracks; louvers; gauges; hood latch box; headers and side pipes JetHot ceramic Silver; complete custom front end by Tom Bearoth(?) w/ upper and lower control arms, Carrerra adjustable coilovers, oversized rotors w/ brake calipers, flaming river steering rack; black carpet; rebuilt Chevette steering column; rear license plate holder/light; trunk lid if anyone has a damage one in need of repair; hinges for doors/trunk/hood; complete wiring harness; complete builder's manual; badges (I don't need no stinking badges!); rear bumperettes; etc. I may keep the engine tho - a '74 351W built by David Nickens (Nickens Bros.) dyno'ed and documented at 411 HP flywheel, mated to a new World Class T5 tranny used on the '94 Mustang Cobra R's (it had maybe five hours of run time).
