wish to install air-cond

Very hot and humid in summer and very cold in winter in Tokyo and I wish to install air conditioning and heater on my 1990 CR Classic 427 with I think 302/5000cc Ford V8 engine and 4speed manual transmission, I have so far been able to find everything except compressor with mounting bracket and heater hoses outlet and on/off valve to install on engine. Can someone find me new or used parts in USA then buy and send to Japan for me ? Payment either by credit card or PayPal, Photo engine attached, please let me know if you need any other information on car or engine, I also am looking for rear bumper bar, does anyone have one for sale ? I bought one on eBay and paid for back in April but have not yet received, thank you, Makoto

You need to be a pretty good self appointed engineer to get AC/Heater components to fir and work in a CR. But, it will work and is not a big headache if you already have the basics down. As 'vanoocha' states, either one of his links is who I would go with. I however has used more Vintage Air with CR's. They can sell you a complete package from AC pump to the condensor. The biggest problems you are going to find is making your own brackets, what Unit to install and if you have the custom dash or the standard dash? Either one works but the Standard dash is a lot easier to work around! DV |

They say it fits a Classic Roadster. Take measurments from your bolt locations and be sure that they say that theirs are the same. Terry |
I have installed 2 A/C systems in cobras using vintage air
mini's. It is not an easy install especially on completed cars. We had to remove the bodies for a clean install. In southern California I think it's a waste of resources and time unless you have a hard/soft top. I recommend getting some help with someone with A/C experience. Peace....... |

DV, . . I took the AC out of my CR car about 9 years ago. All except for the evaporator under the dash. How hard is it it get out to save a few pounds? Can I take it out from under the glovebox or do I have to remove the whole dash???

I'm not sure how yours is installed (?) I'd guess you are going to have to pull the dash, OR at least get it loose to pull it out some. ?? Pulling it with dash installed seems a - to good to be true - scenario ? Actually I don't think I have ever seen an evaporator under the dash? DV |

That's usally "outside" too as I think (?) thry can get pretty warm. (?) If it looks like a small bottle and not a radiator ( :) ) you might be able to pull it out without removing the dash! I'm assuming you can lay on your back, down hill and working up .... :) DV |
