Hi all. Found this forum browsing for information on Cobra Kit cars. I currently do not have one, but it has been a lifelong dream to build one. I will probably be mostly lurking and reading, but I love reading about them and seeing what others have done.

I recently talked with a few friends about what kind a motor I would like to put in my Cobra when that day arrives. I thought I would like to be a purist, but realized I like modern technolgy too much. The subject of throwing an LS 427 block in came up. It got me wondering how many other people have done that, and that led to my internet search, and to this forum, so I signed up.

I currently am, have always been, and will probably always be, a bike nut. I own a 2007 Yamaha R1 and a 2003 Yamaha FZ1. So you can understand why the Cobra kitcar appeals to me so much. Lightweight and able to stuff gobs of horsepower under the hood! What more could one ask for?

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the rides and reading all the good info on here. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can post pics of my own Cobra up here.

The best thing to do is RESEARCH............
you will find all kinds of power plants in Cobras.....
there are purist and there are the "I'll do it my way" people.....
contact a local club and talk to the members about there cars
and go for a few rides(if possible)and ask 10 thousand questions
about everything.............
set a budget up for yourself and plan on going over it........
deciede what you want to use the car for race,race/cruise,cruise......
as you said small light fast and lots of fun BUT safety should come first
(know your limits)most people cant handle a car with 400hp and some
of these are built with well over 600hp......

+1 to what was said above ... you came to the right place! Poke around the forums and the for sale area. Take a look at Cobra County to see the ads, there is usually lots of detail on what features the cars have and lots of photos as well. This might help narrow down what are looking for in terms of building your own car.

There are even Cobra's with VW motors in them. Take a few months to do some research, Get out & see a few cars at local meets. The more you know about the car you buy, the better off you will be.
