Hello from Belgium!
Hi there, I'm Pierre (Peter). I'm 21, from Belgium.
I subscribed here to find informations about the main things to know about a Cobra. My dad has bought (it's not totally done, but it's on its way) a White and blue Cobra, from Tennessee. She has a 302ci Ford Mustang engine, with some performance parts like intake manifold. I'll post some pics, maybe the previous owner will recognize her? :) See you soon! Et à bientôt. ;) PS: sorry for my bad english.. |
Welcome... tell us about the kit and get some pics up soon
|
I don't know the kit, I'll tell you next time the car is at home. She's currently at 50km from my house, she's to be fixed to pass a technical control to tell us if she's able to ride in my country.
Here's some pictures when She arrived in Belgium. Since these pictures have been taken, we have new springs (because the previous owner cut them to have a lowride like cobra..), new brakes, etc... http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/dsc064175.jpg http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/dsc064166.jpg http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/dsc064157.jpg http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/dsc0641412.jpg And now how she looks like: http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/p102005813.jpg http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/p102006112.jpg http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/p102005921.jpg http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/p102005710.jpg And here is the picture that make me afraid of the state of the car: http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/p102007117.jpg It's leaning... after hours of rresearch to know what was the problem (we first thought it was a too high spring, or maybe a flat tyre), but in fact it's the bodywork. It is lower on one side than the other, the attachment points have moved ... So I don't know if I have to worry about that or not? |
Hello
Where in Tennessee did you buy the Cobra? I live 24 KM South of Tennessee Alabama state line.

I don't know where exactly, a friend of my dad imported the car for us, so...
I have posted earlier a big post with pictures and so, but I don't know why, it doesn't appear on the topic.. ? |

Thank you!

In the 4TH & 7TH pictures it looks like it is leaning to the drivers side but the last picture looks like it is leaning to the passenger side.
Although in the 3RD and 4TH pictures the drivers side front tire look about half flat. |
Nice car greetings from the netherlands
|
welcome
i thought that you need some windscreen wipers & motor to pass technical inspection. regards from istanbul ps: you may take a look to my scratch builts at http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/scra...bside-fia.html |
Here in Belgium, you can insure (not sure if it's the right word)) a car in "Collection" category. That means you have to pass the technical inspection only once, not every year, or two years like a common car.
With this Collection insurance, you can drive about 15-20 miles around your home, or drive to meetings. You cannot drive by night, that's a bad point. But be sure we won't respect the 15-20 miles limit. Police'll just warn us, here the policemen are very kind with old & nice cars. They will first ask us to blip the throttle than to show the papers of the car. :) So I don't need wipers, etc. It only has to start, turn and stop, it doesn't matter how loud is the car, how looks the car, etc. to reply to tcrist, on the 4 first pictures, it's the field that is leaning, that's why it looks so bad... But indeed, the tires were flat. If you want to help me, I've created a topic (here: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/tire...eels-size.html ) to choose the right wheels and tires. Cheers! |
Aloha, uX,
Regardless of Control Teqhnique, you're going to need wipers! I lived in Belgium for only one year, but it seemed to rain constantly. Cheers! |
congratulations on your cobra. I think you will need a good set of tires, if you are planning to take eau rouge flat in fifth gear,
|
I would rather go to the Nordschleife (about 30 miles from my house) than to Spa-Francorchamps (about 40 miles :P ).
To answer to marco246, we won't take the car for a ride when it's raining, and we won't race her too. My dad will drive her only during the weekend, and he won't use the 350BHP of the engine.. |

I don't have my own car, my parents have a Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi 90hp (diesel of course), google it, you will just feel happy with the most crappy car in US. And the Cobra, I think I'll may drive her in 10 years, if I'm lucky... My father doesn't want me to drive her, in fact, no one else will drive her, only my dad...
|
But be sure that when I'll buy my first car, I'll go around the Nordschleife, I don'thave any doubt about that!
