Just asking
I looked at a 1982 Cobra yesterday. It’s in real good condition. Drives and runs great. The brakes are a little soft. They were asking 17,000 I said I would pay 14,000 they said OK. Should I buy it?
Thanks in Advance, Lori |
What engine/tranny,brakes ,and miles? ect..
|
That's a pretty cheap ticket for the Cobra experience. $14k? Do some common sense stuff: have the DMV run the registration before you buy it (it may be stolen); have a mechanic do a compression test and give the engine a look-over to make sure it's sound; check the title to see if it's been wrecked; and, have the mechanic put it on a lift and check the brakes/suspension for any obvious problems.
As a Street Beast, don't expect much help from the manufacturer is you run into issues. I'd talk to some other Street Beast owners. But, heck, for $14k? Most Cobra owners are in their Cobras $50k+. The paint job alone, in CA, would be $10k. Have fun, DD |
Um, thats not a street beast.......
looks like an early west coast to me, brakes will be soft, count on upgrades to them, and the suspension as its probably stamped steel mustang II if it has a title and runs well its a good buy at 14k....just be forewarned you will probably have to throw some more money at it.... |
Nice Car
It is a West Coast. It will probably have a 460-based motor, doug nash tranny and solid 9" rear end. They are good cars and a breed apart from most other "Cobras". That price does seem low unless the person is in financial problems or there is something that is not right with the car.
From the outside, looks real good. Ask them about overheating issues and take it for a real long test drive to try to get it to overheat.... As far a brakes, many WCC's had kind of soft brakes due to the drum brakes in the rear. If you are willing to invest some money, do like I did and get disk brakes put in all around....not soft any longer. |
Thanks for the reply’s. It’s a small block just put in with 700 miles with a 4 speed. The tires are new. The owner is in financial problems for sure. Don’t know too much but he’s selling his house was 1.6 million dropped to 1.2 he’s selling his Hummer don’t know how much. I drove the car for some time checked the VIN and the title and the title is clear. This is my 1st Ford I’m a chevy person. Seamed like a good deal and I love the car. Wish me luck and have a great day.

grab it before someone else does....lol i don't see how you could loose, even if you keep it a year and decide to get rid of it...
good luck |

Hurry Up or send me his name!!!
|
No way you can go wrong, probably the buy of a decade, you could flip it with no additional investment for 100% profit.
|
Sorry, thought the wide-low rollbar was characteristic of Street Beast.
Dang! What a deal! Let us know if you nab it. Cheers, DD |
Good luck!!!!....Hope you have a lot of fun:)
|
14K ??? Thats a killer deal !

Got the car today. Did a little clean up. Turned the white letters out. Drove all over the place. How I know what the snake bite is all about. I shouldn't be having this fun. I'll take some pictures soon.
