Dave Tucker Cobra

Hello All. Im new to the Cobra scene and am interested in purchasing a Cobra and have just found a kit from Dave Tucker Australia. Now i have heard lots of reports on this guy and most do not sound promising but is anyone out there driving around in one of these kits and how hard is it to get one of these registered in Australia as anyone from downunder will attest as to how hard it is to get one of these registered legally on the road.Any help would be greatly appreciated and i do find this site awesome with lots of information and helpful hints. Thanks again
Steve

Venom Motorsport Beware.

Steve,

Please read the thread "Venom Motorsport Beware" and others and should be fulfilled and you can make your own judgement.

Tuckers body is not bullet proof compared to a RMC series three.

My RMC Series three glassing is upto 8.00mm thick in places.

I was disappointed with Tuckers Body as the glassing was not to my standard- crazing straight from the mould and not thick!

Two people can lift Tuckers Cobra body(super light) compared to four people that are required to lift my RMC .

His chassis seems to be robust from what I was offered but when it came to paperwork in the form of ADR and Torsional Beam Test it was not available for me but a few pages of the TBT which was unsatisfactory.

If you have bought Tuckers kit please obtain all necessary paper work in writing -ie Torsional Beam Test or else it will cost money in the vicinity of $1200+

Hi clubcobra members.

Let it be known that Mr.David Tucker is trying to sell his business for $120k and it is advertised in Gumtree and the reason is due to ill health.
What is the chances of getting my promised deposit back?
Should I make him a offer and deduct the $500 that he owes me.
It is overdue!

Hey Guys... Does anyone out there have a Dave Tucker Cobra registered in Australia, I would be keen to have a chat for some help in getting my car registered.
Thanks.
Steve

Steve

I am not sure what you want.

In February you post asking for advice..

You were given links to the site and Threads here with detailed Posts on numerous Threads by a number of members regarding the supplier.

It appears now you pushed on and purchased either from the supplier or from someone who had his product.

Again I am wondering why you went ahead?

What have you ended up with?

Where or from whom did you buy?

I guess when these types of Forums are here to assist and there are numerous links to sites on this supplier a decision to buy against all advice and odds is a brave one.

Try Lindsay McDonald at McDonald Brothers Racing in Thomastown on 0394650000 and Trevour Simkin in Shepparton both have built - many years ago - cars supplied or part supplied from this supplier.

.... Or is this just another add or Thread started by the supplier under a new name?

Perhaps you need to Post some photos of the product you have now.

Post chassis and body photos etc.

Additionally this Thread should be on the Australian site.

You will get appropriate responses regarding the Cobra supplier and support.

Re Post over there.. ...

And again read all the warnings and stories linked to this supplier.

The McDonalds Brothers Racing built car is currently for sale in Just Cars - Australian magazine.

They have an on line web site with cars listed also.

Perhaps the current new owner can assist. Appears to have changed hands a few times since being built.

It is on Club registration.

Steve from what I hear, if you don't have a body and chassis in your hands now, you will never have the problem of registration to worry about.

Not sure if this is a serious thread or not. Methinks that perhaps there is a Mr Tucker behind this.....if not....

However a phrase 'battered wife syndrome' comes to mind.
