Glad you found a transporter, but the END of June? How come it is taking so long to get from Washington state to VA?? I would think by the end of May would be more like it.

I meant the beginning of June not the end. About a week and a half total for the trip across country. So not as bad as the mis typing made it sound. I promise lots of pics when it arrives.

Just got an update, it should be here on the 31st of May. One more week, just one more week.

Just got the call from the transport driver. My car will be in my driveway this evening. I am so excited. This has the potential to be the greatest day ever.

Can't wait to see pics!

Well at about 4:15 this afternoon, a very nice big rig pulled up in front of my house and after some fancy ramp moving and some skilled driving, my ERA Cobra was delivered safe and sound in my driveway. I have to say it is truly amazing. Having bought it sight unseen I was a little nervous, but I could not be happier with my purchase. Still waiting on registration paperwork so only took it for a few short laps around the block. Even with just the 1 mile I drove it, it will take surgery to remove the smile from my face. Looks like my oil temp gauge is not working, but everything else seems A OK. Now I have something to troubleshoot while I wait for my license plates. Ply Car did a great job, and their driver Moe was top notch. Here are a few cell phone pics. Once she is fully legal I promise some nicer photos from the surrounding area.

Byron,

Looks great! So glad for you. Hopefully the registration process goes through quickly. Spent the day trying to get the rear brakes and hubs finalized, a few more minor adjustments and hopefully the car will be ready for the next phase.

Enjoy your car!

Oil temp takes almost 10 minutes or so to get up enough to move the gauge. It may be working just fine. Takes a lot more than a scoot around the block.

Congratulations! ERA makes a wonderful Cobra.

Yup, coolant is usually in operating range before the oil temperature gauge even starts to move much. Oil temperatures are slow to climb until you make the engine work a bit. My oil pan holds 11 quarts, so it takes a little longer than most.

Thanks for the advice on the oil temp thing. I will see what happens once she is legal and I can take her out for a proper drive. I was very happy when I went out to the garage this morning and my Cobra was still there. I actually thought for a bit that it was all just a dream.

good for us

Congrats on getting your dream car. I share the feeling, I just purchased my first Cobra as well this past weekend up in New Jersey. Mine is made by Unique with a Jasper built 351 W. My car isnt perfect has some paint chips here and there, but it is very nice. I hope we both have years of enjoyment. I will post some pics soon.

What engine do you have? is it a short-deck Windsor (289-361)?

My 289 won't move the needle on the oil temp gauge until after I've been running for a solid 10 minutes above 2500rpm... And I don't even have an oil cooler installed on my car :JEKYLHYDE

Just got the call from the DMV, my title is good to go, all I need to do now is go pick up the plates from the DMV. I thought it was very cool that the lady from the DMV took the time to call me and give me my title number so I could register my car today instead of having to wait until next week when the paperwork showed up in the mail. It is supposed to be an amazing weekend so very happy that I will be fully legal to enjoy it.

It also turns out that my oil temp gage does work, it just doesn't move a whole lot but it is right in spec with what you guys are telling me is normal so thanks again for the sound advice.

Later,
Byron

So, this weekend we will expect to see a youtube video of the car running...

byronpete21 06-04-2017 06:27 PM

Lots for driving this weekend. Video coming soon. Need to get a better mount for my Go Pro.

Best Regards,
Byron
